The Enviropro Endure range delivered the good looks, and long-lasting protection for the rejuvenation of a high-traffic, main assembly hall at a Melbourne girls' school.
Thousands of students have walked the timber floors of the main assembly hall and theatre stage at Fintona Girls' School, one of Melbourne's top schools.
Located in the leafy suburb of Balwyn, it was January 2020 that a major rejuvenation of the hall's 370 square metres of flooring was scheduled. Sanding, filling, vacuuming and applying a multi-coat Intergrain Enviropro system has transformed the hall and stage flooring to deliver a stunning, modern, environmentally sound solution, ready to support the next generation of Fintona's high-achieving students. Over three years later, it is still as good as new.
As the project lead, Fintona's Property and Services Manager Brett Bates had a clear brief. The timber floors were due for a major rejuvenation and the new finish needed to:
Brett met with Intergrain Trade and Industrial's Technical Sales Executive Pat Guarnaccia, who not only created a customised specification, but also recommended Tony Belajin and his expert application team at The Wooden Floor Co, to undertake the job from beginning to end.
To achieve the durability and long-lasting performance required for this project, a four-coat system of Intergrain Enviropro products was specified. Before application began, Tony at The Wooden Floor Co undertook a series of steps to expertly prepare the 60-year-old timber flooring:

Pat explains why the system was customised to suit Fintona's unique requirements:
"Intergrain Endure 2 pack is a commercial grade, three coat system. Typically Intergrain Enviropro Endure Timberseal water based coating is used to stabilise the porosity of the base timber, followed by two coats of Intergrain Endure 2 pack, which is more than sufficient for performance," he says.
"However, in this instance in order to provide the next level of mechanical protection on such a high-traffic area, an extra third coat of Intergrain Endure 2 Pack was applied."
"A single re-coat after five to seven years is all that's needed to keep it looking like new, and retain the long-lasting finish."
"The results have exceeded our expectations," Fintona Property and Services Manager Brett Bates says. "The flooring is totally rejuvenated, ready for the next decade of assemblies, concerts and events. The old yellowing is completely gone and replaced with a bright and modern natural finish."
Timber flooring expert and applicator Tony Belajin believes the investment in careful preparation and the use of quality Enviropro products will ensure the coatings will stand the test of time.
