Coating: 3x longer lasting deck protection

A timber deck is a great addition to any outdoor space, but it faces relentless battles against harsh weather conditions and the abrasive effects of foot traffic. To ensure your deck stands the test of time and retains its look, you need a high-performance decking oil that offers long-lasting protection. Look no further than Intergrain UltraDeck Timber Oil.

Read on to learn how to prepare and coat your timber deck for superior protection that lasts three times longer than traditional oil-based decking oils.

What You'll Need

  • Intergrain UltraDeck Timber Oil
  • Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner
  • Intergrain DeckBrush
  • A bucket
  • Flat blade stirrer
  • Stiff bristle brush
  • High-pressure hose
  • Safety gear
  1. Sweep the deck to remove any debris. Prep your timber for coating with UltraPrep Timber Cleaner. If your timber is new, use UltraPrep Tannin & Oil Remover before UltraPrep Timber Cleaner.
  2. Mix 1 part UltraPrep Timber Cleaner to 4 parts water. Wet the timber surface with water before applying the solution generously with a stiff bristle brush. Scrub the timber vigorously.
  3. Leave for 10-15 minutes. If necessary, apply more mixture to keep timber damp throughout this period.
  4. Rinse off exterior surfaces thoroughly using maximum pressure from a garden hose or using a high pressure water cleaner. Allow the timber to thoroughly dry before applying UltraDeck Timber Oil.
  5. Thoroughly stir the oil before and during use with a flat-blade stirrer.
  6. Using Intergrain's DeckBrush, coat UltraDeck Timber Oil along the lengths of the timber boards.
  7. Allow to dry for at least 3 hours, then apply a second coat. If necessary, sand lightly between coats to remove any raised grain.
  8. A third coat will give extra protection and is required in harsh conditions such as full sun exposure, around pools and in humid areas.
