It’s not surprising that Melbourne-based ITN Architects chose timber for the design of this striking beach house. After all, the home is nestled in the lush coastal hotspot of Lorne, along the Great Ocean Road, Victoria, where nature is celebrated in all its glory.

When it came to designing the beach house, the owners wanted a generous home that could be enjoyed by all the family, with a separate space for the parents to hide away. Above all, it had to be simple and spacious, a place for the family to escape and enjoy the spectacular coastal location.

To create a connection with the lush bush surroundings, timber was the natural choice for the building’s construction. It would give added texture and interest to the simple shape of the home, while at same time, aging gracefully in the wooded surroundings.
