Winner - Commercial Exterior: Quay West Resort and Spa Falls Creek

- Elenberg Fraser
- Designed by Elenberg Fraser
- Located in Falls Creek, Victoria
- Photography by Peter Clarke and Peter Bennetts

Emerging from the alpine backdrop of Falls Creek, the resort comprises two elegantly formed buildings with remarkably conceived timber design.

The judges praised the design for its ability to simultaneously create a striking timber exterior while integrating harmoniously into the surrounding environment.

Drawing from the surrounding landscape, the architects chose Silvertop Ash for its suitability for construction in a BCA classified Bushfire zone, using it to complement the local Glenrowan stone cladding.

Winner - Commercial Interior: Water Moon

- Facet Studio
- Designed by Yoshihito Kashiwagi and Olivia Shih
- Located in Potts Point, NSW
- Photography by Katherine Lu

The interior of Water Moon restaurant is a celebration of the beauty of timber in its purest geometric form. An intuitive piece of design, the jury applauded the enchanting use of timber to recreate Japanese culture humbly and beautifully.

A timber light box in the core of the restaurant provides a canvas for the inviting colour and shapes of the sake bottles, while creating what the judges called "a subtle manifestation of a bento box". Timber sliding doors and panelling in hoop pine plywood complete the picture with a clever alternative to traditional paper screens.

Winner - Residential Exterior: Woollahra House 11

- Grove Architects
- Designed by John Grove
- Located in Woollahra, NSW
- Photography by Willem Rethmeier

Each component of this home's exterior is a testament to the appreciation the designers have for all the unique qualities of timber and a strong sense of its location on a corner in the heart of the West Woollahra Conservation Area of inner Sydney.

The architects were praised by the jury for their masterful use of timber to create a captivating streetscape presence. With its robust black stained timber bookending the street, the exterior creates a striking aesthetic.

For the cladding and decking, a hypnotising visual is created by use of plantation spotted gum across horizontals, verticals, widths and tones.

Winner - Residential Interior: Hill End Ecohouse

- Riddel Architecture
- Designed by David Gole and Emma Scragg
- Located in Hill End, Queensland
- Photography by Christopher Frederick Jones

Conforming to a strong sustainability agenda, the original timber and tin home on this site was carefully dismantled, with more than 80 percent of the timber being reused in the construction and interior of the stunning new building.

The judges were impressed by the delicate and confident weaving of timber throughout the family home, with species of timber selected with a keen eye for what each of their individual qualities will bring to the whole.

Blackbutt flooring works in tonal harmony with the hoop pine plywood of the cabinetry, doors and windows. The stair screen, constructed from the original house rafters, creates a playful sense of shapes to balance the practicality of the large hoop pine sliding door between the dining and kitchen areas.
